Report: Microsoft building 'Surface' gaming tablet
Microsoft is reportedly working on a 7-inch tablet with the Surface brand, specifically focused on gaming applications.
Microsoft is reportedly working on its own 7-inch gaming tablet, using the "Surface" brand. According to unnamed sources, the device has entered the development stages for final implementation.
The Verge reports that according to the leaked specs, the tablet would include a custom ARM processor and high-bandwidth RAM made specifically for gaming. It would also run its own customized Windows kernel rather than a full version of Windows. The tablet could potentially support other functions like messaging, in addition to its primary gaming functions.
The report goes on to speculate that the Surface tablet could debut before Microsoft's next-generation console, which is widely expected to be announced next year.

Did you see their ‘Sphere prototype’ of the surface tech from 2008? It has 360 degree touch sensitive support. It would be ideal for RTS or perhaps a game like Spore; where you could rotate the world or even physically walk around the device it to see the other side of the map in play. Two players could play on the same device with the same display and they could not see what the other was doing.
