While Assassin's Creed 3 and Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation will be set in different locales, that won't keep the two main characters from meeting each other in the Vita version, according to lead story writer Corey May.

In the first developer diary for Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation, the developers talk about crafting a game for handheld and how they determined the background for the game's lead assassin, Aveline. May also said that during the game, she will have a chance to meet up with Connor, star of the console game.
