Borderlands 2 bug makes you un-Badass
Borderlands 2 is receiving reports of a bug that resets or lowers Badass ranking, across all platforms.
Borderlands 2 is receiving complaints of a bug that lowers or resets users Badass rank. Players impacted by the apparent bug say their totals have been reset, but the challenges still show as completed so they can't re-earn them.
Worse yet, the bug reports on the official forum (via Kotaku) don't seem to discriminate by platform, so no group of players can feel safe from it. Gearbox community manager Chris Faylor told fans that the company is looking into a fix.
The Badass system awards tokens for achieving mini-challenges, which can then be used to purchase small stat boosts. These buffs work across all saves, so the Badass rank is actually pretty important even after finishing the game as one character. On the bright side, if the game is still showing the challenges as completed, it seems likely that data could be used to restore the ranks without making players re-do their challenges.

I also just lost about 4hrs of gameplay... Steam Cloud just overwrote my saved game back to an older version! WTF

I also experienced switching between my PC at work and home.. but never lost too much. However I wasn't closing down steam before i left so it may need to be closed down to sync (I've noticed sometimes when I close steam it says it needs to sync first). So if you're just logging in and it's kicking you out on the other PC, that could be your issue.

did you get the popup asking you which to use? i always go with local on that.

Nope it just said the save was different from Steam Cloud, do you want to continue... clicking No, just exited. Clicking Yes downloaded the save from the Cloud killing my 4hrs of gameplay.

Yah I've turned off Steam Cloud for this game... it should at least ask me which save I'd like to use!

I don't think I've ever had anything but issues with Steam Cloud. It fucked up my Magic 2013 save the other day too.

Did you log into a different computer than you normally play on? If so, when you log on from your normal comp you'll be able to restore the save. If it's the same one then that is pretty terrible.

Well... fuck. This certainly puts Borerlands 2 off the agenda for a while. Though we haven't encountered this bug yet - I'm not about to risk our Badass Ranks by simply 'playing the game.'

Haha. I forgot that BL1 on the PC was tied to Gamespy. Christ - that's a bug on the level of having McAfee bundled with a new Windows installation.

Oddly enough I can't seem to complete challengs without them resetting to 0, I completed the level 5 challenge for shooting the projectiles those four armed bears throw but it reset to 0. I think I still have the rewards for the badass ranks I got though, is that normal?
