Fuse trailer zaps out, a little late
The big and somewhat overblown reveal that Insomniac's first multiplatform game Overstrike is now renamed Fuse should've been accompanied by a trailer, but a mysterious legal rights issue kept publisher EA from releasing it on schedule. With that resolved, the trailer's now out for your viewing pleasure, with snippets of in-game footage showing off your squad's flashy technological abilities.

As our Ozzie explained in his preview, the squad-based shooter formerly known as Overstrike's four team members each have tech powered by the unstable alien substance 'fuse.' It can power a handy shield or, put in a gun, it can crystallise enemies, melt them, and suck them into black holes.
Fuse is due on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in March 2013. Compare this to Overstrike's announcement trailer and you'll see the squad's abilities have changed a fair bit since E3 2011:

I was pretty sold on Overstrike/Fuse. I know it was a CG animation and that the game would look different, but I loved the pretty colors, the characters that boasted very different personality, equipment, weapons and abilities and all the funny humor that surrounded the game.
This trailer showed me what the changes did to this game. The colors were lost, all the characters wear a standard grey uniform. The humor is gone judging from the serious tone of this trailer. The weapons are still there I guess...
It's like they pulled a reverse Borderlands. Borderlands was serious and brown and grey and they made it colorful with plenty of humor and that worked because it's a breath of fresh air from all the apocalyptic stuff.
Overstrike was funny, bright and colorful. It transformed into Fuse: a grey, brown and serious shooter in a sea of grey, brown and serious shooters. -

I totally agree. Overstrike looked like a game from Insomniac because of the cool weapons, the animated style of the characters and the humour. Fuse at least retains interesting weapons, but other than that it just looks like a generic gritty shooter. I'm sure the developers will still manage to make a good game, but it definitely won't be a traditional Insomniac game; it will be a traditional shooter (hopefully with cool guns).
