Gears of War: Judgment to feature free-for-all multiplayer
Gears of War: Judgment will add a "Free-for-All" multiplayer mode, marking the first time the series has had multiplayer that isn't team-based.
The Gears of War series is known for a few things: beefy pock-marked character models, strained emotional cutscenes, and rich team-based multiplayer. But at least one of those factors is getting a shake-up with Gears of War: Judgment, the first game in the series helmed by newly-acquired developer People Can Fly. You'll be able to shotgun fools mercenary-style, without being beholden to a team.
OXM reports that the game adds a Free-for-All to the mix. Traditionally Gears of War modes are variations on team play, from capture point and assassination types to the standard Team Deathmatch. Free-for-All will let you play for yourself, though it seems likely that People Can Fly will still keep team modes available too.
The game is due March 19.
