It's unfortunate that almost the entire gaming press is on a bit of a Nintendo downer which results in the Wii U getting mainly negative coverage; it's not just Garnett. This generation it became more obvious to them that Nintendo is not in the arms race and when that's combined with the myopic view that graphics/power are the only things that constitute "next-generation" or "evolution" of gaming, it means Nintendo are basically "shit" in the eyes of the gaming media.
I personally find it sad to see people that play games constantly and call themselves experts and professionals can't look at the Wii U and, despite it not being a momentous graphical leap over current gen, see the potential of the controller. To me what they have shown of Zombi U should have people very excited. Sure, the game might end up being shit, but that doesn't mean that until proven otherwise we can't be excited by the features that the controller brings to that game. Permadeath, kill your zombie corpse as well as friend's zombies, asymmetric "dungeon master" like mutiplayer, inventory on gamepad while game continues on main screen etc are all pretty neat.
