Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel brings on Overkill

Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel gets a new trailer highlighting Overkill from the Electronic Arts GamesCom 2012 press conference

Electronic Arts kicked off its Gamescom 2012 press conference with Army of Two's Alpha and Bravo, showing off a bit more of The Devil's Cartel sequel and a new Overkill feature that racks up more firepower for good team play.

The game, powered by the Frostbite 2 engine, was demoed on stage and featured the broteam in their trademark masks dealing a lot of devastation. When the two worked together particularly well, Overkill became available and the team was able to do more focused damage over a short amount of time. Bravo even took down a helicopter with a pistol.

The game is coming in March for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Hmmm. looks good enough. Major problem for me is scheduling. Co-op experiences, as much as I love them, are pretty demanding. It was easy to gather up a group of buddies to run through Halo 3 on Legendary in high school, but that's not the case anymore. Designing a game so dependent on co-op is a ballsy move (especially when the last two weren't huge hits) but I reckon there's data out there that suggest this franchise still has something left in the tank.

There ya go. A great looking game, with destructible environments and hella fun NOT using the Unreal engine and NOT sermonizing about how we need new tech. This series just gets better and better. I hope they keep the decision making from the last game, but it doesn't look like it.
Either way, keep'em coming show Epic you can make bangin' games without bleeding edge tech...just work harder.
