War! Huah! Yeah. What is it good for? Video games! Eugen Systems likes it so much they named their game Wargame: European Escalation after it, and now a sequel's on its way. Publisher Focus Home Interactive today announced that Wargame: AirLand Battle will come to PC in 2013, prettied up with "a level of detail never before seen in a real-time strategy game."

Continuing the fictional Cold War combat of the first game, AirLand Battle adds planes to the mix, as you may have guessed from the name. There'll be 150 in all, bringing the total number of units to 750 vehicles and men from 12 factions.

Wargame: European Escalation was received warmly by critics, but doesn't seem to have made that big of an impact. Perhaps AirLand Battle will, ho ho, 'take off.' Eugen also made R.U.S.E.

This game is closer to World in Conflict than RUSE. Same massive battlefields from RUSE but no base building or RUSEs. Units have limited fuel and ammunition so they need to be resupplied. Gain resources by controlling areas on the map. Reinforcements are called in from off map as long as you control a reinforcement zone.
