Hybrid launches to server issues
Hybrid launches today, but server issues are keeping players from diving into the multiplayer only game. Developer 5th Cell is working on the problem with Microsoft, but doesn't have an estimate for when it will be fixed.
Developer 5th Cell is taking its first step into the shooter genre with Hybrid, which blends the common cover-based mechanic with defying gravity. The game is multiplayer-only, and some unfortunate server issues are keeping players from cracking into the game. The developer is working on the problem with Microsoft.
Currently, starting up the game will result in an error message stating that the service is not available. In a post on the Hybrid forums, company co-founder Jeremiah Slaczka states they are working in conjunction with Microsoft on the problem.
"Many people from both 5TH Cell and MS are working together to sort the problem out," he says. "We are making progress, but it will take time unfortunately. Sorry for the inconvenience, however we don't foresee this problem to continue once it's fixed."
Hybrid looks to have some interesting ideas behind it, from its variable cover mechanics to persistent war, and it grabbed enough eyes at Microsoft to earn a spot among the Summer of Arcade line-up. But early sales and reputation are important, and launching to server issues probably isn't the way anyone at 5th Cell wanted to kick off the game.
