Far Cry 3 trailer: 4 minutes of co-op
Far Cry 3's separate four-player co-op mode is on show in a new narrated gameplay demo, looking pretty swish.
Between the gratuitous sexy wiggles and daft antagonist, I'm a bit put-off by what we've seen of Far Cry 3 lately, especially as a big Far Cry 2 fan. Chin up, killers. A new narrated walkthrough of its co-op mode shows that even if the campaign does seem silly, the four-player fun looks swish.
Far Cry 3's co-op mode is separate from the campaign, with four other characters on a mission taking them through a different area of the island. You'll have to work together to complete objectives, and, of course, shoot men. There'll be special breaks in missions where players can compete for high scores by casually sniping at far-away enemies.
Our Andrew got to play the co-op during E3 in June, though he was somewhat held up by bugs--which you'd expect from an early version of the game. He also had a go at the campaign and quite enjoyed it, so don't mind my grumbling.
Far Cry 3 is coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on December 4, having been delayed from September to make time for a little extra work and polish.

I purchased "Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition" during the Steam sale to finally quell my curiosity.
See, I typically never read official reviews -- instead, I treat the Chatty as a barometer for what games to purchase or avoid. I've been doing this for around a decade and it's essentially my primary reason for F5'ing everyday (circumcision threads are a close second). From my perspective, Far Cry 2 ranks #1 as the most polarizing game here with many extremists at both sides of the love/hate spectrum. My expectations are admittedly low but I'm looking forward to trying it out for no other reason than to see which side I'm on.

Pro-tip: Make the gun shop / convoy side missions one of your priorities. Completing them will unlock new weapons at the store to buy. So you'll have more variety with your loadouts and won't have to deal with shitty guns that jam up all the time like the ones you'll first get and pick up from dead enemies.
