Capcom Vancouver, formerly known as Blue Castle Games, has been hit by layoffs. The team is best known for their work on Dead Rising 2 (all four of them).

The studio confirmed layoffs via Twitter: "Capcom Vancouver has let go 7% of our employees as a result of unsuitable fit with the studio goals." Intriguingly, in spite of the layoffs, the studio claims that it is still hiring.

The success of Dead Rising 2 spurred the acquisition. In fact, it's largely believed that the team is working on a Dead Rising 3. The exact reason for the layoffs is currently unclear, but Capcom's financials have not been so hot as of late.

It's alright, they're just the guys in charge of the Day-1 DLC.

Fuck you. Whatever the merits of Day 1 DLC, these individuals were almost assuredly not responsible for that decision. Moreover, layoffs are not something to be championed as some sort of karmic justice for not fulfilling the expectations of entitled fans.

It's been a bad week for this sort of thing and I hope everyone let go lands on their feet soon.

Man, it never ends! Vancouver is becoming a black hole of used-to-be-development-houses.

I don't understand the anger over day 1 dlc anyways. Who cares when they started working on or finished the dlc. The point is that the time and money spent on that content was planned for an expansion. You are not entitled to all game content just because it was completed before launch day of the retail game.
