Editorial: Vita needs less imitation, more augmentation
This year was Vita's coming out party. The only problem? I don't really want a portable PS3. And looking at the stumbles of the PlayStation Portable, I'm not sure the market does either.

I can't agree. I bought it to be a portable PS3. If I wanted shitty mobile games, I'd play them on my phone with poor controls. this is the whole point of the device for me.
i kinda like what unit 13 did and what the new CoD is going to be doing. bringing the console to the handheld but turning it into bitesize experiences. CoD multiplayer is going to be awesome to pick up and play a couple maps on demand wherever you're sitting around bored. -

I think it's perfectly fine if the content is actually new. We're getting a lot of old ports, remakes, rehash of not only PS3 games but also games that were already on the PSP. I would love more PSN/XBLA/PC Indy style games but more involving games are also great. I prefer to play some longer games on portables rather than console because of the suspend function.
The one major issue I have with portable versions of established series is they tend to be made by B teams and are mediocre at best compared to the console versions of the games or are overusing some gimmick that ruins the gameplay.
