Having previously said that New Super Mario Bros. 2 would be released this August, Nintendo used its E3 showcase to pin the platformer down. It'll be arriving on August 19, to be precise.

The launch of NSMB2 will also kick off Nintendo's move to sell downloadable versions of retail games too.

Not much of the game is known for know, only that it's all about grabbing as much gold as possible, but Nintendo will surely show off a little more during its 3DS event at E3 this week.
