Shadow of the Colossus movie gets Chronicle director
According to a new report, Josh Trank, director of Chronicle, has been signed to direct the Shadow of the Colossus movie.
It's been a long time since we've heard from Sony about their plans to adapt Shadow of the Colossus into a film. However, the project is apparently still alive. According to a new report, Josh Trank, director of the recent Chronicle has been signed to lead the project.
According to Deadline (via Joystiq), Trank has been a fan of the classic PS2 game and "sought out the job." The studio is currently interviewing writers for the treatment, suggesting the movie's original script by Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li) is no longer in consideration.
The long-stalled project may not make it into theaters any time soon, however. In addition this film, Trank is apparently also attached to three other movies: Fantastic Four, Venom, and Red Star. Of course, Team Ico fans are no strangers to waiting--so it's unlikely they'll mind.

I'm familiar with little gems which shine outside the mainstream. Which offer something unique and remarkable. Maybe the cheesy ads betray the film. Maybe the description of it on AZ is biased. Maybe the generic basis of the plot redeems itself. Or maybe it's just another unremarkable film utilizing some of the same old tired hollywood metrics of blockbuster wannabe films w/o doing anything new or interesting for storytelling, flim making, or art, like most movies are. Maybe it's just like all the other films which the ad's, that description, and that plot make it seem to be.
I might just have to watch it now to be sure. Afterall, It'd be nice to know if this director will be able to do this franchise justice.-
-
Um, okay, cool story. I had to google that, honestly, and I really don't know what to say to that. It's a rather peculiar...insult?, attempt at an insult? Some form of trolling intended to confuse your prey into submission? What response were you anticipating from me.....
On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate this experience in regards to fulfilling your expectations concerning our interaction?-
-
hm, idk. I look at it more as being desperate to find out what I'm wrong about. Being right is nice and all, but it doesn't really do much other than give a sense of satisfaction which serves no end. As to the last word, why does that matter here? It's a comments section, if someone wants to comment on something they do that.
Personally, when I see comments like these, basic attacks, instead of arguments which fully demonstrate an error, it's all rather amusing, so ya I keep talking, I keep responding, because I'm bemused by such behavior. I mean, if I'm so obviously wrong why can't anyone demonstrate this? Why only snide comments, insults, trolling, and attacks aimed to demean me?
You might quip about my behavior appearing to desire always having the last word, but that in itself I find quite amusing. Given your stance and conjecture concerning my motivations it's curious to then observe that all of you felt compelled to give your 2c on a subject many had little interest in actually discussing, let alone any interest in right or wrong. Why exactly did you respond? What motivated you? What justification do you have for doing what you do?
-
-
So? Honestly given the responses so far I'm not sure why you think I should care. I'm accused of making fallacious assumptions all the while everyone's made absolutely fallacious assumptions concerning the basis in which I've formed an opinion of this films likely quality. At the same time they've failed to provide any reasonable explanation of why I must clearly be mistaken. No one's detailed the merits of this film and it's director.
I mean, seriously. People were providing their own personal bias, their own assumptions, concerning how my friends and I communicate while online, and even how accurately those people can represent a wide and varied array of interests leading to exposure of things which I would not normally be party to, such as this film. After explaining how both of those assumptions are entirely incorrect there's still 'lol fruit' 'haha stupid'. I mean, if I'm so stupid, If I'm a retarded fruit, how come no one's been able to say anything that truly challenges my assessment of what this film probably is? If you guys can't do that, what does that make you?
It's really as simple as this. What this situation currently is. When someone you absolutely destroy in an online match calls you bad, calls you garbage, what exactly does that say about themself? They got shutout by bad players with are completely garbage, which is exactly what's happened here. So, how does it feel to be more retarded than myself?

The reason people are replying to you in this manner is that they feel your point is invalid and presented badly.
Then you started making defensive posts, and there is nothing the shack enjoys more than someone not getting the point and continually making a fool of themselves (in the shack's eyes).
That's where you are right now. All these people replying to you are regulars here, and all of them think you're foolish, so you're going to get foolish, mocking replies.-
I know that. I'm amused by this. I don't see why I should do anything but feed my personal amusement here. You guys think I'm really so dense that I don't understand the preposterous idea that simply being unaware of a thing means it's not worthwhile. I find that amusing that people are so easily fooled into thinking that. How much further do you think I can keep this going after this post? It'll be amusing to find out I think.

No. I'm sorry, I don't pay enough attention to shacknews and it's threads to be aware of the majority of what goes on in this community. I view news that's pertinent to myself and if I feel any desire to I'll participate in comments. That goes for every news/forum I go to, whether it's [H], GI, or w/e I go to what's relevant to myself and will further my interests and I get on my with my life.

Now you see YummyCheese, that doesn't make any sense. How do you know all of those friends of yours didn't know about it by merely not saying anything? When you play Halo, do your friends just blurt out, "Hey, have you seen the previews to "Rabbit Hole"? Also, my armor is low". If you have never heard of it, how would you know to ask your friends if they have heard of it? Do you all pick a Sunday afternoon just to talk about movie advertisements? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Sylvester Stallone's "Cliffhanger" trailer VS the theatrical release. Big Disappointment IMO

CONFEESSS!
srsly, most films are bad, most fiction is poorly written, and so far no one's really made a case against anything I've said..I mean, 'it did better at box office than expected' and 'doesn't mean it was bad' are hardly compelling statements concerning the quality of this flim. If anything it just reinforces my perception of it, and films like it, which have similar themes/adverts/plots. I fully expect to see a film like other films I've seen and there to be some kind of generic hook people thought was cool even though it's been done countless times before, but hey, if it's really a good film then I'll enjoy it, but given the response in this thread I doubt that's the case....I mean, just lol. "did better at box offices than expected"
-
-
Um, well usually people start with reasons as to why the film doesn't actually suck and why such assumptions, or rather, conclusions based upon observations, aren't valid.
You know like, 'hey, those adverts really don't do justice to this film, you know how the teasers aren't always representative of a film, how marketing can go overboard or fail to do their job right'. Maybe even just a passionate statement about why someone liked it. Or a reasonable one detailing it's many merits and it's flaws. instead there's 'hey it did better than expected' and 'it doesn't mean it was bad' neither of which puts into question my assessment of the film based upon how it's marketed and described as a retail.
of course such arguments require that the film actually be something which isn't what I've concluded it to be. So, it's rather interesting, to see these words. Nothing to go on.
Good films don't have comments like this defending them. Good films have white knights listing why the films worth watching, worth buying. Films that people assume are terrible due to lame marketing having never heard of them do have comments like those found here. This really is rather amusing, quite amusing.-
-
It is? So far the only argument against mine is that my argument is a terrible argument, which is really no argument at all. No one's given any explanation as to why my argument cannot be correct, let alone whether or not it isn't completely accurate.
This whole thread can be summed up with this. "Cheesy adverts, lame plot description, never heard of it, probably sucks" "UR WRONG" "Why?" "Because" "Cool Story" -
