Tex Murphy: Project Fedora Kickstarter launches
Tex Murphy's creators have launched a Kickstarter to fund the sci-fi noir adventure game's long-planned sixth installment, codenamed Project Fedora. They're looking for $450,000 to bring it to PC and Mac, FMV and all.
It appears there's a new way to fund video games, named 'Kick-starter,' which seems to solicit money from you and I rather than The Suits. What a wild and crazy idea! Could it ever catch on? The creators of classic adventure game series Tex Murphy certainly hope so, as they've launched a Kickstarter to fund the long-planned sixth sci-fi noir installment, codenamed 'Project Fedora.'
Creators Chris Jones, who plays the titular gumshoe, and Aaron Conners are hoping to raise $450,000 through the Kickstarter campaign to make Project Fedora for PC and Mac at Big Finish Games. They boldly say it "promises to be the best Tex Murphy adventure ever," which surely can't backfire.
Space-dick Tex Murphy will gallivant around in a "fully 3D world," engaging in his usual hardboiled antics. Fear not, though, FMV will return. And yes, it will finally wrap up that cliffhanger ending to 1998's Tex Murphy: Overseer. Curiously, Project Fedora is built around a branching story with multiple endings.
Pledging at least $15 to the Kickstarter will get you a digital copy of the game when it's finished, then there are the usual escalating tiers of perks, up to having a walk-on role. Project Fedora zoomed past $50,000 dollars within only a few hours, so it looks like it'll be joining such high-profile Kickstarter game successes as Double Fine Adventure, Wasteland 2, Shadowrun Returns, and Republique in securing funding.
