Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth coming to Wii U and Kinect
Looks like the Avengers are coming to consoles. Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth is coming to Wii U and Xbox 360 for Kinect from Ubisoft.
It had been speculated earlier this week that a new Avengers game was in the works after a domain had been registered for Avengers: Battle for Earth. Ubisoft is going to be making the game after all, but you may be surprised at what platforms it is being developed for.
Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth is being developed by Ubisoft's Quebec studio and is coming to Wii U and also will use Kinect for the Xbox 360, according to a report from The Associated Press. The game is expected to be released after the Wii U debuts later this year.
Ubi's marketing honcho Tony Key said the Avengers lends itself to a motion control system:
"The idea that we're making a motion-control version of 'The Avengers' is a unique proposition if you compare that to superhero games of the past. This is the perfect type of game for that because these characters are very action oriented. They’re always fighting and throwing things."
Key said the game will be based on the "Secret Invasion" comic book series and not the recent film. The focus of the game will be on Captain America, Thor, Iron Man and the Hulk, but 20 other characters from the Marvel Universe will be featured.
Ubisoft also launched the site for the game to coincide with the official announcement.
