Republique to feature voices of David Hayter, Jennifer Hale
Voice actors David Hayter and Jennifer Hale have signed on to play key characters in the iOS adventure game Republique. It's scheduled for summer of 2013, with PC and Mac versions coming after.
Two well-known voice actors have joined Republique, the iOS adventure game from former Halo 4 creative director Ryan Payton. The mobile market is going to get some Snake and FemShep in it, with the chords of David Hayter and Jennifer Hale.
David Hayter is best known as Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series, and has worked on scripts for X-Men and Watchmen. He'll be playing the head revolutionary who writes anti-Overseer propaganda. "It's a character I wrote specifically with David in mind," says Payton, "as he's not only very politically active but also an accomplished writer."
Hale is known for playing a wide variety of strong female protagonists, including Commander Shepard from Mass Effect, Samus Aran from Metroid, and Naomi Hunter from Metal Gear. This time she'll be changing it up by playing a villain known as "The Mentor." Payton says she'll be a "central antagonistic force" for players.
Republique is scheduled for summer of 2013 on iOS devices, and for PC and Mac shortly after. The game's Kickstarter page is aiming to raise a lofty $500,000 goal, with only 7 days remaining to meet more than half of that amount.

It does look like a cool game and I want to give them money... but I don't have any iOS devices. I've given enough money to enough Kickstarters that I have to start being a bit more stingy with my money. I want it to succeed but I don't think I'll be helping out. I hope they make it, but it's not looking good so far. It's a shame because they seem to have a pretty solid plan.

I would still suspect it's their main target, which takes a lot of interest out of me. They seem to talk a lot about touch interface and such and Windows version seems more like an after thought.
I'll keep an eye on it, but it knocked my interest down enough that I'm not going to participate in the Kickstarter...-

They only added the PC and Mac OSX versions add all to the project was because the way the money was trending they weren't going to hit their target. Things still don't look good on that front. I think things would have been much better if they had the platforms figured out on the first day of the project.

its not that i don't think that this game could be successful, or that it doesn't look like it would be a good game. (it looks like it could be successful if it reaches it's funding goal.) but it just seems to me that i wouldn't play it. i have a hard time playing AAA games on my iPhone. i have infinity blade 2, but i've played it through once. i have Shadowgun, but i have yet to play through the whole single player campaign, let alone all the dlc for it. i think that i just have a better time playing quick time wasters my two favorites right now are tiny tower and jetpack joyride. its not that i dont want to have great gaming experiences like republique on my iPhone or iPad, it's just that if I'm going to have a big gaming experience, i'd like to have that on my xbox or ps3 rather than in an elevator on my way to the doctor's office. and if i have 5 minutes to kill somewhere, Im less inclined to try and get further in Shadowgun than in jetpack joyride. (which, according to the clock, i have almost a whole day of playtime on but thats over LOTS of 5-10 minute game sessions)
