One expects to face plenty of unpleasant things during a visit to Silent Hill--deep fog, skinless dogs, twisted nurses, spectres, dark gods, and filthy toilets are all part and parcel of the fun--but game bugs are simply not on. How good, then, that patches are in the works for the recently-released Silent Hill HD Collection and Silent Hill Downpour.

The Silent Hill HD patch is targeting dodgy frame rates and audio-synching problems. Downpour's patch is to fix its auto-save issues, which can cause the game to hang while auto-saving.

"Players have voiced their concerns, and solutions to these issues will be fixed and launched in the coming weeks," publisher Konami said in the announcement. As for the larger complaints leveled against Silent Hill Downpour, well, we'll have to cross our fingers and wait for the inevitable next Silent Hill game.

And now they can bring them to PC/Steam... right? :(

PC already has better ports of the Silent Hill games than the HD collection, from what I've heard.

Correct. The PC versions of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 came out a year or two after the original Playstation 2 releases.

      Is Downpour any good?

I thought it was great despite the occasional frame rate issue.
