Guild Wars 2 first beta weekend announced
Guild Wars 2 is launching its first beta weekend April 27-29, NCsoft and ArenaNet have announced
Guild Wars 2 will get its first beta weekend soon. NCsoft and ArenaNet have announced that it will kick off next week, April 27-29, for those who have bought their way into the test. The developer didn't share more details on how frequently these weekends will come, so clear your schedule if you get into the first one.
Beta access is granted through pre-purchasing the game. It starts at $60 for the standard edition, $80 for the Digital Deluxe, and $150 for the Collector's Edition. Pre-purchases will also get three days of early access to the game before its official launch, and a Hero's Band item.

Yes but considering the number of people signed up for the Beta and the number of people pre-purchasing your chances of getting in to the beta without that is pretty slim.
Also getting in to one beta does not mean you are in all subsequent beta's, the only way to ensure that is to pre-purchase the game. -
You have to pre-purchase to get guaranteed beta weekend event access. And you are incorrect, pre-ordering will only get you one day head start, pre-purchase gives you three days head start. Sure, if you signed up for the beta previously, you might get a shot at one of the events or if you received a code from PAX you will be able to play this first weekend, but that's it. Basically, at this point, if you want to participate in the beta weekend events you HAVE to pre-purchase, not pre-order.

I've tried watching people play this many times and I'm always struck by two things. 1.) I have no idea what's going on, effects flash and numbers scroll, the relationship between the two tenuous. It's really hard to tell what's going on from the graphics. B.) it looks just as clunky as every other MMO. There is no sense of connection between the enemy actions and the players, they don;t flinch or run, or do anything but stand there cycling attacks until their hitpoints drain to zero, same with the players. I find this disappointing.

lol, agree with johnny, i think Boxelder watched some other video of some other game :)
yes they have a lot of effects but that is to tell you what is going on (visual clues) and once oyu know what all they mean you learn to move out of the way so they dont hit you, also you only see the number of atacks that you deal and noone else, i think...
