Syndicate developer announces free-to-play project
Starbreeze is working on a free-to-play title called "Cold Mercury," as it searches for a distribution deal for another new project, P13.
Starbreeze Studios, the developer behind the recently-released Syndicate, is trying its hands at a free-to-play title. The project is currently codenamed "Cold Mercury." While this will be the studio's first attempt at a F2P game, the studio wants to assure fans that it will continue making "AAA" games.
"Starbreeze will not leave the AAA segment," CEO Mikael Nermark said in a report by
GamesIndustry.biz. "We are discussing with several leading game publisher on publisher financed games, but we will broaden our product portfolio portfolio of games in the new business models and segments that have arisen in the games industry. I am convinced that Starbreeze will be successful with the new games."
The company recently downsized after completing Syndicate.
