The first one and its expansions are great. One of the best 4X games out there right now.

First one, yeah, really good.
I got the second one with that big Steam sale at the end of the year. It's... less prone to crashing randomly on you now. I think the game is mostly functional. I've heard of people getting to the end of games. I haven't done it myself, nor do I have the want to. That's a good price up there and they are still updating it regularly, just don't expect a whole lot...

I gave in and bought it. Hell, I even got the Digital Deluxe Edition and I got in on that limited time preorder bonus of free BF3.
I can't speak for anyone else, but so far I have no regrets. ME3 is at least on par as ME2, with tweaks to make combat better. Cast of characters is weaker, side quest content is stronger. MP is a decent side feature.
