Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert talk adventure games for 2079 seconds
What could be nicer on a Monday evening than Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert talking about adventure games for 35 minutes? Very little, that's what, so have a watch of this new video documentary segment.
Between them, Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert have masterminded such classic adventure games as Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, and Grim Fandango, so it's a treat to hear the pair talk about the genre. In a 35-minute video recorded before kicking off Double Fine's instantly successful fan-funding campaign for a new point 'n' click, they have a good old chat about everything from their histories to hopes, which all makes for wonderful watching.
The two cover topics including designing good and bad puzzles, good writing in games, adventure games they've played recently, engine decisions for their new game, playtesting with Ron's uncle, and other lovely things.
Double Fine's Kickstarter campaign has raised over $2 million, with 15 days still left to go. The eventual adventure game will come to PC, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android, while backers will get a Steam code plus a DRM-free version.
Here's the video, filmed by the folks who are documenting Double Fine's adventure for backers to see, 2 Player Productions.
