Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition is an odd pairing of Nintendo's iconic kid-friendly franchise and Koei's feudal Japanese strategy series. While this unlikely combination has us scratching our heads, the development team revealed that an even more bizarre collaboration was being considered: a Dynasty Warriors crossover game starring Nintendo's pocket monsters.
According to the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu (via Andriasang), Tecmo Koei approached Nintendo, pitching "Pokemon Warriors." However, the Pokemon team didn't want their cuddly critters to wield weapons. Instead, Pokemon's Tsunekazu Ishihara suggested the currently-in-development pairing with Nobunaga's Ambition.
If you pay close attention to the trailer, you'll see that no weapons are in play in this recreation of feudal Japan. Of course, who needs swords when you have Jigglypuffs and Pikachus by your side?
