New .hack game revealed
The latest entry to the .hack JRPG series has been revealed.
CyberConnect2 has been working on its Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games and Asura's Wrath. However, it has one more game up its sleeve: a new addition to the .hack franchise. The transmedia world encompasses a number of anime and manga series, including two JRPG trilogies released on the PS2. The newly-revealed .hack game continues the storyline started in the first six games, and promises to tie into an upcoming movie release, as well.
Little is known about the new project. However, CyberConnect 2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama says the game is going for a more "photorealistic feel" with this latest entry.
The first screenshots are available on Famitsu (via Siliconera). They feature Haseo, the lead character from .hack//GU.
Namco Bandai had originally announced that the upcoming Blu-ray release of the .hack CG film in Japan would include a "small" .hack game. It's likely that this newly revealed game--or, at least a demo of it--is what the original announcement referred to. While platforms for this new game haven't been announced, its availability on Blu-ray should make it pretty obvious that it's going to end up on PS3.
