Final Fantasy XIII-2 demo releases next week
The Final Fantasy XIII-2 demo will be available on PlayStation Network on January 10th, and on Xbox Live Marketplace on January 11th.
You could be like the protagonist of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and travel through time to a future where Square Enix's next console RPG is already released. Or, you could just wait a week for the free downloadable demo to release.
The Final Fantasy XIII-2 demo will be available on PlayStation Network on January 10th, and on Xbox Live Marketplace on January 11th. No word on what the demo will include, but you should expect spiky hair, giant swords, and a dramatic cutscene or two.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be available on January 31st.

I'm happy to hear that they are releasing a demo. However, I feel that the success of the game may depend on how well the demo illustrates what they have improved from the last game. For me, after playing 10 or so hours into the first game and being told that "I should just stick with it until it gets good", I don't plan to pick up this game unless the demo really shines for me. I also don't plan to "just stick with" any poorly-paced game until it "gets good" this year (no matter how much history or pedigree a franchise has). There are too many other great games to play.

Lightning is basically not in the story outside of 10 or so minutes despite the coverage she's getting. Friend of mine says it isn't horrible but since it is a direct sequel there is a ton of cut/paste for environments and monsters - not that this would be a large surprise I suppose.
I liked the first one, minus Hope. I'll prolly pick this up too but I'm kinda annoyed I'm stuck with Serah as the main.

You know what I mean. The stories, the characters, the basic 'feel' of it all. The men who look like they'd be more comfortable in drag, and the women who run like a stereotype of a little girl which seems more for pedobear than anyone else. I do admit that the story and charactesr do change, but for the most part they've been as the above, unless I missed something, and watching the few movies there's been just isn't an accurate representation. I heard Spirits Within wasn't something most FF fanboys approved of, I thought it was awesome, but I'm a SF buff.

1) Durr
2) That's a cultural difference between JP and US
3) "..but for the most part the are the same as above..." You didn't say anything of substance above. You pointed out two design details, and rattle off three categories like an Eng Comp I teacher on the first day of class, and sat back proud as a peacock at the point you think you made.
4) Your Spirits Within line kind of proves the point. It's every bit a valid entry into the "series" as any of the games is. Final Fantasy isn't a setting. It isn't even a theme. It's pretty much like the name of a studio at this point. A Valve game. A Capcom game. A Final Fantasy game-
Hey Fanboi, Sup?
1) Herp
2) I'm aware of that, and that difference is one of the reasons I gave for my confusion, Derp
3) I didn't, and bc I didn't you should've looked else, what's above the comments section? No, not the gallerys...Nooo, not the Like button either...Yes, the video.
4)Woah boy, Woah. Settle down there. I didn't know I was supposed to be proving points, making real arguments concerning my overall confusion. I thought I made it clear I was giving both opinion and query as to how that opinion checks out. No matter, I don't blame fanboys for being overzealous, it's in your nature. Just answer me one question, Y So Srs? -

I don't get it either. The artistry of the Japanese developers is what drew me in initially but as the years went by, and the sequel count mounted, the stories never really evolved or grew out of the initial molds. In fact it all seemed to retreat inward on itself and grow ever more childish, though that could simply be because I got older. It's a creatively bankrupt genre and I am now an ardent hater of the JRPG. I consider their fall from prominence and near complete exile to handhelds a just and fitting punishment.

Final Fantasy II and III (US) and Chrono Trigger had mature characters and great stories. It seemed that the sprites had more "life" than the characters they've come up with as graphics power has increased. Also, yeah, I get it's all "Japan" and such but I'm so tired of the "lady boy hero" or such feminine men. There have been times I've had to really look to be sure it's not a chick...
