Zombielicious light gun shooters The House of the Dead 3 and 4 are getting downloadable console releases exclusively on PlayStation Network, complete with PlayStation Move support. While HotD 3 was previously released on PC, Wii and the original Xbox, this will be 4's first outing on home systems.
Publisher Sega says that Wow Entertainment's shooters have been "updated with HD graphics," though a quick glance at the screenshots show they're simply running in a higher resolution with black borders. Lovely vague term that, "HD graphics."
The House of the Dead 3 will arrive on PSN on February 7, while 4 is slated to arrive "this spring." There's no word yet on how much they'll cost.
"The House of the Dead has always been one of Sega's most popular series, and over the years we have worked hard to bring that full arcade experience to console owners," said Haruki Satomi, Sega of America senior VP of digital business, in the announcement. "The abilities of the PlayStation 3, as well as PlayStation Move, have let us get closer than ever before. The only thing these titles are missing is a need for quarters."
If the recent lovely shlocky The House of the Dead: Overkill is your only experience of the series, you're in for a bit of a shock, as 3 & 4 were po-faced affairs about evil corporations and such gubbins. Watch this trailer to see:
