Like clockwork, Namco Bandai Games is releasing yet another Naruto Shippuden game. Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations is the third game from CyberConnect this generation, and it expands upon the two previous games by offering the biggest roster yet: over seventy playable characters.
Unlike the previous two games in the Ultimate Ninja Storm series, Generations breaks canon by featuring characters from Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, adding "stories never revealed in the original series."
Generations' departure from the anime canon makes sense, given Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 went as far as it could go in the still-ongoing series. However, Namco Bandai promises to include "all new anime content," about an hour's worth, from Pierrot, the studio that animates the television series. It appears the anime content will focus on a number of side-stories, featuring Kakashi, Zabuza, Haku, and Itachi.
Will that be enough to make up for the fact that this iteration of Ultimate Ninja Storm doesn't progress the story at all? Diehard Naruto fans, let us know!
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 13th.
