Club Nintendo to offer downloadable games
Club Nintendo points will be able to purchase downloadable games across all Nintendo platforms: 3DS, DS, and Wii.
You haven't been throwing away those little pamphlets Nintendo tucks away in their game boxes, have you? Each box includes a Club Nintendo code, which can be used to earn points on a variety of prizes. It appears that the service is being updated with the ability to redeem points. The lower-priced options should be an affordable alternative for members that can't get quite enough points for a Mario-branded backpack, or a Game & Watch DS cartridge.
As a bonus, it appears the initial selection of games is quite inviting.
A NeoGAF member (via Tiny Cartridge) managed to snag a screenshot of the upcoming Club Nintendo revamp before the site went down for maintenance.
- 3D Classics: Xevious (eShop) for 100 points
- Mario Kart (VC) for 100 points
- Fluidity (WiiWare) for 150 points
- Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! (DSiWare) for 100 points
It appears Nintendo plans on covering all of its platforms, with games available across DS, Wii, and 3DS. Best of all, all of the games featured are excellent. (Note: If you plan on getting Mario Kart, remember that it is included in Mario Kart: Super Circuit for 3DS Ambassadors.)
