Diablo III closed beta access? In my Battle.net account? It's more common than you think. A number of click enthusiasts, myself included, have discovered that we've been enrolled in the beta for Blizzard's action-RPG without receiving any notification. Who knows, perhaps you have too? To check if you're one of the lucky ones, sign into the Battle.net account management. In your Game Accounts list, if you have the Diablo III beta listed as shown in the picture below, congratulations--you're in! If it only lists "Diablo III (Coming Soon)," I'm sorry to say you're not in yet. Do make sure you've selected in your beta profile settings that you want to take part, and update your system specifications with the tool. Thanks to Shacker DM7 for spotting this and sharing the good news with his fellow Shackers. Diablo III is slated to launch for PC and Mac in "early 2012." A $100 Collector's Edition packs an art book, soundtrack, DVD documentary, USB thumbdrive shaped like a soulstone, and in-game cosmetic bonuses. Though Blizzard is openly hiring for a console team, a console release is still unconfirmed.

        Oh, don't you worry about that. There's more than enough time for Dota 2. Diablo III is awfully exciting, but the beta is relatively short, while Dota is... well, Dota.

  thank you for this. I changed my account to opt in for betas. I hope there is a d3 demo, because between torchlight 2 and all the other non action rpg games that are out or are coming, D3 is currently not on my must buy list.

    I went for Monk first, because it seemed the most different to Diablo II classes, and its closest counterpart is one I really liked--claws Assassin!

  Thank you for posting this story! Right after reading, I went to check my battle.net account. BAM! Diablo III beta link. I probably wouldn't have checked for quite awhile without this story.

      Doesnt matter to me. Half the fine is being able to test the product out. Counterstrike is definitely one of my favorite IPs...... being able to beta test the latest release would be great.

        its a really early beta and it shows.
        
        the matchmaking doesnt work well right now
        animations are incomplete
        i get lag on almost every server I've played on
        buy menu sucks (being fixed)
        as a long time CS player (competitively as well) casual mode is not appealing to me, and thats all thats in the beta.
        aiming feels like mouse accel is always on
        limited items/maps
        no party system or way to join a server with friends
        
        all of these things are expected from a beta. its just hard to get excited to go home and play it in its current state. As a diehard CS fan, playing just a few rounds satisfied my fanboyish need to play the latest version ASAP. that said, I probably wont play the beta again until a major update is release.

      Actually, after watching it again, I'd have to say it just another Diablo clone. While that is not a totally bad thing, it would be nice if somebody did something a bit different.

      It's highly annoying. I understand the notion of needing an internet connection for piracy and hack checks and whatnot, but really? Playing a single player game should drop me out of the game when their server goes tits up.
