GREE expansion brings Yakuza, Resident Evil to iOS & Android
The GREE Platform has announced a list of publishers on-board, readying games for the platform. It's set to launch in Q2 2012.
GREE Platform, which is expanding next year as it merges with OpenFeint, has announced a list of publishers on-board with the mobile push. Some of the biggest Japanese publishers are listed, including Capcom, Sega, Square-Enix, and Namco-Bandai. The mobile platform is set to launch in Q2 of 2012, which places it between April and June.
Andriasang reports that mobile versions of Resident Evil Mercenaries VS, Monster Hunter Dynamic Hunting, Dance Dance Revolution, and Yakuza are among the planned games, along with a handful of popular Japanese franchises that haven't made the jump to the west. Many of the publishers, however, are listed for Japan only, and Yakuza series is listed as "region TBA."
GREE claims that once it unifies with OpenFeint, it will be the world's largest platform at 150 million. According to the company this outmatches the DS' 146.42 million units. GREE games will be playable on iOS and Android phones.
