PlayStation Home offers free movies via Crackle
PlayStation Home now lets you view free streaming movies through Sony's partnership with Crackle.
Now that PlayStation Home has gotten a reboot with more emphasis on social play, you might be wandering around with your avatar wondering what to do. Well, if you live in North America, you can watch entire feature-length movies from the comfort of your virtual couch, while sitting in your actual couch. How meta.
A teaser video from the PlayStation.Blog promotes the new feature, which is part of Sony's partnership with movie streaming service Crackle. The video promises hundreds of movies and over a thousand TV episodes, but your mileage may vary based on how much you want to see Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo. Now to be fair, Crackle may actually have better offerings, but that's the one they chose to highlight for some reason.
The Sony-owned service doesn't require a subscription to access, so if you're not keen on Netflix this provides a streaming movie solution through your console for free. You just have to go through PlayStation Home to get it.
Crackle will also be available on Xbox Live later this year, as part of its Xbox TV initiative.
