Sonic Generations releases in the U.S. tomorrow and Europe on November 4, bringing both 2D and 3D perspectives to a number of both new and classic levels for the series' speedy blue hedgehog namesake. Generations celebrates twenty years of Sonic--an anniversary that's sure to make some of use feel really old--but it's a little surprising find out that Sega doesn't appear to have any more plans for Classic Sonic in the near future.

When asked about the possibility of seeing Classic Sonic in future games, Sega's European brand manager David Corless bluntly told industry site Spong that nothing of the sort has been planned. "Do you know what? There are no plans to bring Classic Sonic back," he said. "The reason for bringing him back for this game was because this is a celebration of 20 years of Sonic. It was a real fitting time to do it. He's really well loved."

Corless then seemed to hedge a bit. "Let's see how Generations does," he said. "You can never say never in this industry, but at the moment there are no plans."

Sonic Generations arrives in North America on November 1 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and 3DS.
