Unannounced God of War project looking for 'senior staff concept artist'
Sony's Santa Monica Studio is looking for a new senior staff concept artist, for a project listed as "God of War."
Sony's Santa Monica Studio--the team behind the God of War franchise--is looking for a new senior staff concept artist, according to a job listing at the company.
The posting notes the project as "God of War" and lists it in the "Military/Combat" genre. A rumor in April of this year stated that God of War 4 was already in development; however, Sony would not comment on its existence.
SCE Santa Monica has been involved, both directly and indirectly, with thirteen titles since being established in 1999. During the PS2 era, the studio developed the Kinetica game engine, which was used to power the God of War series and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs.
Though SCE Santa Monica have only developed three God of War titles, the series has expanded to a total of eight games, including portable titles and two HD re-releases on PS3. According to the Starhawk website, SCE Santa Monica is collaborating with LightBox Interactive on the title, much like it did with Incognito Entertainment during the development of Warhawk in 2007.
Shacknews has contacted representatives at Sony to clarify the listing, but have not heard back at the time of publishing.
