More Uncharted games likely, given series' success

Uncharted 3 director Justin Richmond confirms that Nathan Drake's adventures will continue beyond Drake's Deception.

It probably won't come as much of a surprise given the runaway success of the series, but Uncharted 3 director Justin Richmond recently confirmed that series protagonist Nathan Drake still has some untold adventures in store. The latest, Drake's Deception, isn't due out until November 1, but a number of very positive pre-release reviews--including Xav's recent assessment here on Shacknews--have been very positive.

"There are a ton of Drake adventures out there and we haven't told all of them yet," Richmond told the Official PlayStation Magazine UK (via IGN) in a video interview. "As long as fans want the games and as long as we find something that's interesting and will push the medium forward, we'll continue to make them."

He added, "But we haven't decided at all what the next thing is."

Naughty Dog wants to continue to push the envelope for interactive action-adventure storytelling, but knows where to draw the line. In other words, don't expect to see "Drake in Space" anytime soon.

They might be able to get one more Uncharted game in before the next generation Playstation. If they can keep up the quality they should DEFFO go for it!

I'd personally love this. Uncharted is a lot like Indiana Jones in that they both have a central character that goes on an adventure every time and returns, more or less, to where he was when they started and the strengths and pitfalls of the archetype are the same.

As long as the adventures stay fun and the characters stay likeable, I'd love an Uncharted game every 2 years.
