Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for PC features detailed
Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling has answered some lingering questions about the PC version of Modern Warfare 3, including visual options and dedicated server details.
We're inching closer to what is likely to be one of this year's top-sellers, Modern Warfare 3. In preparation for the event, community manager [corrected title for Bowling - ed.] creative strategist Robert Bowling has answered some lingering questions about the PC version of the game, including how dedicated servers will work, visual options, and rooting out cheaters.
"We keep our ear near the ground and try to deliver items most requested," said Bowling in a community thread (via Eurogamer). He says the team has been taking feedback and putting "a ton of emphasis on delivering a PC experience that brings in all the great things" from both Modern Warfare 2 and the original.
In this case, that means matchmaking with parties and public games, lobbies, steam integration, dedicated servers, and an in-game server browser. Bowling says that players can "find and filter via an in-game server browser or set up their own Dedicated Server for complete control, without being restricted by any 3rd party hosting requirements." You can also use the server browser to find unranked Dedicated Servers and include filters for searching.
Touting unique graphic options, he says you can enable and disable rendering features like SSAO, modify DOF, Shadows, Anti-Aliasing, and Texture Resolution.
Addressing concerns raised by previous games, Bowling says the team has worked hard on new methods to find and stop cheaters. "Security is a major focus for Modern Warfare 3, especially coming out of Modern Warfare 2," he said. "We will be utilizing multiple methods of Anti-cheat and Security methods, including Steam's VAC system, CEG, and our own propriety methods implemented to provide multiple layers of defense in keeping online multiplayer fun, fair, and secure for all players without limiting the control they expect on PC."
Finally, Bowling mentions that the player count is 18 for now, but might increase post-launch, and confirms LAN support for the game. But, max FPS won't be a user controllable option. Modtools aren't being included at launch, but the team is considering making tools available sometime later.

It what it lacks in artistic pretties it makes up for with good, solid performance (except on pc when treyarch is lead) which pays off more in your face real time than in a commercial clip. It's definitely showing its age though, you can still see the id tech roots in there though it's obviously super modified.
