Transformers: Fall of Cybertron announced
High Moon Studios and Activision have announced Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, a follow-up to last year's War for Cybertron. It's due next year.
High Moon Studios is continuing to roll out Transformers games, with the announcement of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. The game, due in 2012, continues the story from last year's War for Cybertron. The game features the war between the Autobots and Decepticons coming to a head, and leading to abandoning their dying planet.
The game will have its coming out party in the November 2011 issue of Game Informer. Details are sparse right now, but what we've seen implies a darker direction. If they really kill Bumblebee, I know someone who will be so pissed. (Me.)
Platforms weren't mentioned, but PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 seem like safe bets. That's where War for Cybertron fell, and it was hailed for breathing some new life into the franchise by taking cues from popular shooters and telling an original story, set in canon. As before, Hasbro is working with High Moon to create the story for this game.
"High Moon Studios is an extremely talented development team having raised the bar of gameplay and Transformers authenticity in their games," said VP of Activision Publishing David Oxford in the press release. "Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is an extraordinary project both for the studio and the Transformers gaming legacy - the stakes are higher and the scale much larger than ever before, and we absolutely cannot wait for fans to see all the new characters and epic action that awaits them."
