Splinter Cell Trilogy HD missing invert aim option

Ubisoft forgot to include an option to invert aim in the PS3 re-release of the Splinter Cell trilogy.

Sam Fisher is a silent, deadly killer. He stalks his victims in the darkness, sneaks up behind them, draws his gun and... wildly aims at the floor. If you've inexplicably been aiming at the ceiling or floor in the recent HD re-release of the Splinter Cell trilogy on PS3, it's probably because Ubisoft forgot to include a key feature in the slapped-together port. No, it's not multiplayer (although that is missing as well). It's the ability to invert your aim.

Although Joystiq's Ben Gilbert calls gamers that use inverted aim "backwards" and "broken," the site correctly notes that the omission is rather "egregious." We've also followed up with the French publisher to see if the company plans on releasing a patch in the future, but like our colleagues, we've yet to hear word about the issue. If this will affect the way you play, we recommend you hold off on buying the game at retail or PSN.

Well, I guess I won't be buying it then, which sucks because I was looking forward to it.

Also I don't really understand the hate for inverted controls. Seems like people actually get mad that an option like this exists.

The only time I hate it is when I can't use anything -but- inverted controls.

        But that's rare.

Yeah, I think it is most closely related to the "left-handers are wrong" type of mentality... People just love to give others crap for it. If you grew up playing old PC games, inverted aim was kind of a thing back in the early 90's.

Wow, that's 2+ games they've fucked up with that. First it was Beyond Good & Evil and then this series.

I don't use inverted controls, but not having this as an option is just incredibly short-sighted and silly. It's basically an industry standard to have this as an option - I don't get how this could've been missed.

It sounds like it had the option in the past, and it was actually removed, judging from the wording.

Haha, funny that it passed Sony Cert, on Xbox no need for this since it's your profile already.

the game still needs to handle the invert / not invert option. The xbox profile is just there to set the default to what you want (which is seriously fucking cool).

You are missing the point, Xbox titles won't get through cert without the feature because it is required to be compatible with Xbox OS.

Except BG&E HD did get through certification and was released on XBLA without the option to invert the camera. The HD versions of BG&E and the Splinter Cell games were both handled by Ubisoft Shanghai I believe. May need clarification on that.

Thats typical Ubi, those guys are a joke at the minute. On PC we get this sort of treatment (ie half arsed versions) from them constantly.

I haven't bought many Ubisoft games for PC yet but the Assassin's Creed titles, although delayed, were pretty good for PC. No complaints imo. Although to be fair I played them with an Xbox controller but that was just because I found the controls way better suited for a controller than keyboard + mouse.

They were doing this intentionally to spite the inverted freaks.

It's always made the most sense to me, but that's probably because the first game I ever played with mouse control was Wing Commander 2, and since it was a space sim inverted controls were the norm. I got used to them there and never looked back.

On a controller, I picture the camera as being my "head", so when I tilt my head back, my vision looks upwards. When I tilt my head forward, my vision moves downwards.
