Chrono Trigger coming to PSN Oct. 4
Chrono Trigger's North American PSN debut has finally been set in stone. The game arrives on October 4.
After a long wait and an unfortunate scheduling error, Chrono Trigger has finally been given a firm release date for its PlayStation Network debut in North America.
The classic Super Nintendo-era RPG from developer and publisher Squaresoft (now known as Square Enix) is set to launch on the PlayStation Network on October 4.
Chrono Trigger was ported to the PSone as part of 2001's Final Fantasy Chronicles bundle. The set also included Final Fantasy IV. The release was known for adding two new elements to the 1995 classic: anime cutscenes and loading times. Moving the game from cart to CD saw loading at nearly every move, from area to area and even to fight sequence transitions.
One would hope that, since Chrono Trigger on PSN is a downloadable title, load times will be a thing of the past.
Chrono Trigger has found its way to almost all platforms over the years, most recently being ported to mobile devices.
