Batman: Arkham City will support 3D on all three platforms, publisher Warner Bros. has confirmed. As well as that silly new fad stereoscopic 3D, the Bat-sequel will support the classic, tried-and-tested 3D we all know and love, glorious anaglyphic.

The PC edition of Arkham City will use Nvidia's 3D Vision tech, meaning you'll need the appropriate Nvidia hardware to use it. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation versions will require the usual setup of 3D HDTV and active shutter glasses.

However, if you're one of the countless millions who can't use stereoscopic 3D, good old anaglyphic will have your back and work on any old HD display. There's no word on exactly which form of anaglyphic will be used, but Batman: Arkham City used Tiroviz's Inficolor 3D.

Batman: Arkham City is headed to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 18.

GPU-physx effects are also returning and supposedly the PC version has "noticeably" better textures: http://arkhamcity.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4249

Batman AS made use of some of the best gpu-physx effects to date, I hope AC expands on it further.

According to a number of interviews, 3D is cheap and relatively easy for developers to implement, and there are people who like it.. so why not?

I've got the monitor for it, but I bought a 120hz monitor so that I could see more than 60 FPS in games if my machine was capable of producing it. Plus I wear glasses, so wearing another set of glasses on that is bad enough for a 2 hours movie, doing for a 6 hour play session would violate Geneva conventions.

I applaud them for doing the PhysX thing but I didn't have a second (or a first) nVidia card for the last game and I don't have one now.

Honestly... the idea of a dedicated physics card that I could install that didn't depend on what video drivers I was running doesn't sound like the worst idea any more. I mean... keep it under $100, maybe $125, and I think I might be down for it.

Woo, another game justifying my purchase of a 3DTV (in my mind at least)! :/

Cool, I look forward to picking it up on the PS3 some day, but I am saving my gaming budget for the ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection right now.

I feel bad for anyone that has to settle for headache-inducing anaglyph. Hopping on the 3D Vision train in 2009 was the best gaming decision I've made in years.

I've been sitting on the fence about 120Hz monitors for a while now; with rage aimed at 60Hz and no 3D i was set to stick with my current one. Batman changed my mind.

What's the leading 120Hz TN right now?

I will probably get this for my PC, and play it using my 360 controller on my 3DTV

Oh wait FUCK I keep forgetting that if I want 3D, I don't get surround sound. And especially in a game like this, surround sound is going to be way more important :(
