4X space sim Legends of Pegasus announced
The new spaceborne 4X game is blasting off next year, with enticing features such as "massive customization options" for ships and "an extensive tech tree." Space!
While the 4X genre (explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate) is no longer the powerhouse of PC gaming it once was, it's still ticking away merrily. The happy family is getting another member next year in the spaceborne Legends of Pegasus from fledgling studio Novacore, announced yesterday by publisher Kalypso.
Set in the far flung future, Legends of Pegasus sees the last humans alive pitted against alien empires in the cold depths of space. True to the genre, the squishy ones will employ a "deep tech tree" and diplomatic, economic, scientific, and military means in their pitiful bid to be known as more than simpleton apes from third rock of Sol.
Combat will be a mix of turn-based and real-time strategy between space armadas. "Massive customization options" are promised for ships, letting you design them yourself. There'll also be modding support, if you want to take customisation a step further.
On top of the single-player campaign, there'll naturally be multiplayer. All in all, Legends of Pegasus will boast 12 playable factions.
Legends of Pegasus is slated for release on PC between April and June 2012.
