BloodRayne: Betrayal release dates finalized
BloodRayne: Betrayal is coming to PlayStation 3 on August 30, and Xbox 360 on August 31, the publisher announced today. It will cost $15, and is being developed by WayForward.
BloodRayne: Betrayal, the downloadable 2D revival of the series, is set to hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at the end of August. A tweet yesterday revealed the exact release dates: August 30 for PlayStation Network, and August 31 for Xbox Live Arcade. As previously reported, it will cost $15 (1200 MSP).
On XBLA, this pins the release two weeks after Summer of Arcade ends, and just one week before Crimson Alliance -- which is being given away as a freebie to those who purchase all the Summer of Arcade games. Sandwiching BloodRayne between these titles that Microsoft has thrown its weight behind could pay off by association, or hurt if users are tired of spending Microsoft-bucks.
Still, developer WayForward has built quite a bit of retro side-scrolling cred. Between Contra 4, Shantae: Risky's Revenge, and A Boy and His Blob, it's hard to imagine a developer better suited for reviving the series in 2D. And BloodRayne looks like it will let them explore some latent bloodlust, so win-win.
