Shack PSA: 50% off Interplay games at GOG

The Fallout, FreeSpace, MDK, Earthworm Jim, and Descent games are on sale at the bargain price of $2.99 each, along with plenty of others, in a huge Interplay sale launched today at digital distributor GOG.

While Interplay now is but a twisted husk of the prominent publisher it was, it still has an impressive catalogue of revered games to its name. Good Old Games, the virtuous virtual vendor of vintage video games, is offering a splendid opportunity to explore these on the cheap, with a 50% discount on all Interplay titles in a 'Staycation' promotion.

A grand 32 titles are available for a mere $2.99 apiece in the sale, includingthe Descent, Earthworm Jim, Fallout, FreeSpace, and MDK series. You'll also find Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, Kingpin: Life of Crime, Redneck Rampage, and oh so many more. What a lovely spread of video games.

The Interplay sale will end at 11:59pm EDT on July 4, so you've got plenty of time to get your pennies together. This is only the first Staycation sale for GOG this summer, so keep your eyes on the ground for shiny coins as you walk.

I've been eyeing Kingpin for awhile. Did Shackers enjoy this game in its heyday? I won't pass it up for 3 bucks, but I'd love to hear impressions.

Have to agree however for $2.99 it's not much of a risk.

All I remember was lots of usage of teh F work and how brown the levels were

I had a lot of fun with it when it came out. The excessive profanity can get kinda annoying at times, but I really dug the RPG elements in the game.

Shogo has long deserved a new game. Now, even if it's just a remake.

I bought Fallout 2 and Shogo because of this sale. Games I wouldn't have bought otherwise, particularly because I already own Shogo on disc. I just wanted a copy that I didn't need a disc for, and also because it looks so good next to Blood and Blood II.

Especially when you combine it with the Source Code Project updates that are still going - Freespace 2 doesn't just look good, it looks as good as any modern-day game.

Giants Citizen Kabuto. Not without its flaws, but such a memorable game. I was playing it around the same time as Alice and had almost as much fun with it. $2.99 is a steal.

Yes, that's correct - shouldn't be any problem applying the Source Code Project open source updates. Don't forget to get the Media VPs too for the updated high-def models, special effects and such.
