New 320GB PS3 is lighter, draws less power

Sony is quietly revising PS3 hardware once again. While it may not look different on the outside, model CECH-3000B weighs less than the currently-available PS3 Slims and operates at a lower power consumption. This model will include a 320GB hard drive, at least when it's released in Japan. The upgraded PS3 will be released for the same price as the current model. Japan will receive the new systems "sometime this month," according to a report by Andriasang.
While SCEA has yet to announce plans to bring the new system to North America and abroad, it seems likely that Japan is simply the first territory to roll out the upgraded hardware. We've request comment from Sony, and will update the story if we hear back.

That report's wattage information is clearly wrong, or indicates a misleading figure like the total amount the power supply can handle. The existing SKUs have gone down from 180W originally to 60W for the 25xx series revisions. The new 30xx should be even lower.

I also wish they would come out with a cheaper entry-level SKU instead of just continually upping the HD size. -
