Batman: Arkham City to use GFWL

The newly-revealed box art for Batman: Arkham City has outed the Games for Windows Live logo emblazoned across the top.

Batman: Arkham City will use Games for Windows Live, as revealed by the new PC box art for the game, reports Rock Paper Shotgun. This means you'll use Microsoft's own front-end for the game, with all the frustrations and perks that come with it. But hey, at least you can use the PC version to contribute to your Gamerscore, if you're into that sort of thing.

You can step into the shoes of the Dark Knight on PC, PlayStation 3, or Xbox 360 on October 18. Robin was recently revealed as a playable character in Challenge Maps, at least as a pre-order bonus from Best Buy. For hands-on impressions check out our pre-E3 preview of Arkham City.

don't see why this is a surprise to anyone. Are people actually mad that the sequel to a game that used GFWL is also using GFWL?

Every title I've had with GFWL has given me some form of grief. And I was always using an offline profile. But to be truthful, it shouldn't matter what kind of profile you make. If you're being forced to use some additional crappy service it should just work.

100% of the complaints I hear about GFWL would be fixed by just getting rid of the plague that is GFWL.

Wont be buying this one because of GFWL.
Had WAY too many problems with Flatout:UC, Batman:AA and Bioshok 2 to ever play another game with GFWL.

I just started playing it with a controller, I found the KB/Mouse actually way better for this game. And I usually like controllers better for 3rd person action.

GFWL aside, it was actually a better experience on the PC than the consoles.

      keeping my pre-order

have never had an issue with GFWL games and ive had a bunch of em.

Shadowrun (doesn't help the game is shit though)
      Halo 2 (hates windows 7)
      Gears of War
Viva Pinata (love it :) )
      Fable 3
      Bulletstorm
      Tinker :)
Fallout 3 (of course now its modded)
The Club (when the game worked anyways)
      Dirt 2
      Bioshock 2
      Batman AA
      Section 8
Dawn of War 2 and expansion
      GTAIV and EFLC
      Street Fighter IV
      World Of Goo
      Osmos
      RF:G
      Universe at War
      Flatout: UC
Lost Planet: EC and colonies edition
      Kane and Lynch Dead Men
      RE5
      Dead Rising 2

Im not saying that GFWL doesn't have its faults (mostly in MP) but if the game didn't work, at least for me it was because of the game, not GFWL

Tbh, I've never had any problems with GFWL. I still hate it, cos it's shit and built for console users bizarrely...like the lack of a "chat" function, I have to click a friend and individually send each message after clicking through 3 menus? Clearly the person who designed it doesn't have a Steam account.

Batman will be worth buying though, regardless of the fact it uses Games for Windows SHITE.

actually you get 2 chat overlays. and achievements that don't count towards your steam achievements. which since you bought the thing on steam is probly what you would prefer.

if it's because you prefer gamepads for 3rd person gaming like I do, then get a 360 controller. or if you prefer playstation controllers there's ways to use your ps3 controller too or even a ps2 controller, much easier with 360 one though.

In gamespy everyone can play, with legit or pirated copies, but the cheaters protections isn't top notch.
In games for windows live.... pirates can't play but.... half of the legit buyers can't play too, and the performance of the client and connection is really bad.
        Talking about multiplayer.
