Modern Warfare 3 'Survival' mode detailed
Details about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's 'Survival' mode surface.
The guys over at GameHunters have managed to unearth some details about a new multiplayer mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, called 'Survival.' This new mode is an addition to the popular 'Spec Ops' mode from Modern Warfare 2; however, Survival mode will utilize the game's multiplayer maps.
Infinity Ward also revealed that Spec Ops will be receiving its very own progressive ranking system, leaderboards, and online matchmaking.
According to the report, GameHunters checked out a Survival map called 'Dome,' described as "a derelict Cold War-era desert radar command bunker."
Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling described the mode, which throws unlimited and ever-changing waves of enemies against you and a friend. "You definitely have to change up your strategy as the enemy changes up," he said. "Obviously how you fight the kamakazi dudes is different from how you fight the normal dudes and how you fight a dog is different from a dude and how you fight juggernauts, they are not only big and armored, so they will just brute force come at you. But they each have their own way of being taken out effectively."
Head on over to the original report on USA Today for the complete report.

To further explain, it's basically little bite-sized missions for 2 people to take on. It ranged from normal stuff to one person controlling an AC-130 with another person on the ground or one person as a helicopter gunner with another on the ground. One was even in the style of the sniper mission from MW1.
It was an almost uncharacteristic kind of creativity from a big budget shooter and they were a huge value-add to the game.
