Because you can never have too many zombie games, Sega announced today that the B-movie inspired Wii game House of the Dead: Overkill is getting a PlayStation 3 Extended Cut version. The game is set for October 25 in the US, and October 28 in Europe.

As you may imagine, the previously Wii-exclusive title will utilize the PS3's Move peripheral. House of the Dead: Overkill Extended Cut polishes up the visuals with HD and 3D support as well as includes two new scenarios. The game will be shown off at E3, but our first peak are some screenshots provided today.

"The House of the Dead: Overkill - Extended Cut for the PlayStation 3 system will send players to the shrieking mad heart of mutant mayhem," said Sega VP of marketing Gary Knight. "This time we went further, faster, and bloodier than before. We extended everything, even the title."

The game's consciously campy motif and rail shooter gameplay led to generally favorable reviews on the Wii, so this PS3 version might be a good opportunity for undead aficionados to catch up.

This is actually one of the funniest games of this gen. My friends are always skeptical when I pull it out but then always have a good time playing co-op. Great music too.

Me and a pal worked through 2 crates of beer and bottle of rum playing that from start to end. Despite being shitfaced by the end and enjoying the whole thing, I seem to remember some horrific slowdowns / fps loss in places.

If there were some decent (and reasonably priced) lightguns for the ps3 I'd buy this in an instant.

Yeah, this was a good, very funny co-op game. I'm not sure how well it plays solo.

I'd always wanted to pick up Typing of the Dead. It seemed like a good fun way to learn to type.

        It is!
One of my buddies' mom who is NOT a gamer loved it so much, she scratched my disk
        for using so much.

She "scratched your disk?" Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

I was floored when I found Typing of the Dead in an arcade in Osaka. It was even set up with two Dreamcast keyboards for coop play.

Best news I've heard coming out of the SONY camp in the last year.
I'll be buying this day one. I told all my gamer friends that if SONY was going to steal from Nintendo they might as well steal some of the best stuff and not just the controllers.
      KUDOS MAN!
      Now I'll have both versions.
