[Original Story] The "Reveal" trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 had dropped. Activision sent us the first official trailer for your viewing pleasure, featuring the upcoming game in action.
Announced earlier this month for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 continues the long-standing, best-selling franchise. This time, terror appears to be hitting America, England, France, and Germany.
The trailer above, which was supposed to debut tonight during the NBA Playoffs, features some of the game's urban-warfare in action running in-engine.

I just want to be able to horse around in multiplayer. I need some interesting perks to play with so I can go knifing because I enjoy shutting down the Xbox Live kiddies who are camping their way towards their precious killstreaks. As fun as that is, I know that BF3 is going to rule my online gaming.

If they fuck up the AK47 (or AKM or whatever they have in this) with a horrible abortion like they had in MW2 (I like my AKs with wood furniture and a side rail for optics...I don't need a fucking tapco adapter M4 stock and tacticlol bullshit on it).
I just want an AK with wood furniture (or if they HAVE to go with fucking plastic...go with Russian plum furniture or some crazy bakelite shit or something)...I want it to look like an AK...not an AK trying to be a fucking M4.

As far as SP goes, I really don't see how and where the series goes from great to crap between MW/MW2/BLOPS. World at War was kind of lame, but I find MW2 / BLOPS just as heavy hitting as far as the content they have in them goes. Sure, the story gets a lot sillier, but the game play is just what I expected from them - well produced, scripted action with big booms and toys for boys. In other words, what makes MW2/BLOPS bad in comparison to MW1, really? The story? The length?
-
Things that work well in one game can become boring/predictable when you pump out annual sequels - not to mention the competitors pumping out the same material (the new MoH game was a much better single-player experience than BLOPS I thought).
MW2 and BLOPS just felt like they were so desperately trying to ape/outdo Modern Warfare that they lost all of their impact. -
They went a little more extreme with MW2s story and it wasn't as believable. I still thought it was really fun, but it was way over the top.
The deep rooted hate for MW2 still goes back to the dedicated server fiasco. A high percentage of shackers never thought twice about the game because of it not having dedicated servers.
The reaction to black ops was completely different because Treyarch included stuff to please the PC crowd, even though it wasnt anywhere near as good of a game.-

one man army was patched to reduce spam. did you also know that assault class can resupply in bc2???! FREE AMMO IS IMBA!!!
BC2 is unbalanced almost all the way through. Dice has never been good at balacne, and this is widely known.
The first mistake they ALWAYS make is that the weapons unlocked at higher levels are much better then anything you start with. the MW series has great balance across levels to make it a fair fight, BC2 does not.
The medic class was broken for months with the stupidly powerful machine guns, and its still pretty bad. general weapon balance is bad.
The game is still really fun, but saying its balanced is a fucking joke.-
Bullshit.
MW2 was ACR > All after they patched it. Before the patch, it was the unstoppable dual shotty combo. It also had the ridiculous Jedi/Crouching Tiger knifing bullshit. Combine that with retarded perks, and gameplay designed to promote camping, and it's a terribly balanced game. 6 months after it launched, 75% of the players were using the ACR or dual shottys. That's not balanced.
Second, How can DICE always make the high level weapons better, when it's something they've barely done. The Best Sniper rifle is the first one you get. The Best Medic gun is the 3rd, the M60. The best Assault rifle is the AN94, which is 4th I believe. The best Engineer gun is the AK-74u, the second gun. Throw in the guns that every class can use, and it's a very much RPS designed system. Plus, even to this day, I see people using just about every gun in the game.
Sorry, but you are in the extremem minority when it comes to MW2. Hell, the whole reason BLOPS was promising is because it fixed all the game breaking issues of MW2. It was surely a better game, but even it is still designed around their fatal flaw... camping.-
I can tell that you only played MW2 for a month. the shotguns were patched about a month and a half after release. The ACR may have been the most popular weapon because it was easy to use, but there were many better guns that better players used regularly.
And I say bullshit to your claim that you see all weapons being used in BC2. once you get access to those weapons you barely see anyone touch the other weapons. they are clearly better and present no reason to use another weapon. and that still doesnt correct the fact that the weapons are inherently imbalanced due to design and stats.-
And I can tell you that you are wrong. I played MW2 a shit ton until BC2 came out. I maxed out, but didn't prestige (I never did for any COD). If you re-read my post, you'll see that I'm pointing out all the issues it had throughout that entire time, not just launch. Shotguns were patched out. Then, it was ACR/infinite explosives and ninja knifing. And once again, it doesn't change the games biggest design flaw of the game, that it is designed around camping.
Also, you are completely wrong about the weapon usage in BC2. It's obvious you've played very little since the first patch. I've played about 20 hours the last two weeks after re-buying it for PC. I see people use just about every single gun in the game. I leveled to 30 on Xbox, and saw the same thing once the M60 patch came out. You've yet to provide and examples of why or what weapons are imbalanced. You just keep throwing out the generic "they're imbalanced." If I actually felt like it, I would record a game tonight and post it just to show you that you are incorrect. But, alas, It's obvious that you don't care about the truth.
Simple fact, IW "dudebro'd" MW2, and most people who have played games for a long time can see that. Why do you think they changed so much for Blops? Because Treyarch realized what was broken in MW2.-
You keep going back to the ACR, but that fucking gun is not imbalanced. Again, OMA was patched to reduce uses and help reduce spam. Sure the game can be campy, but only if you play TDM.
There isnt much else that needs to be said about weapon balance in BC2. The few good guns are so good that there is no point to use other weapons. They are better then they should be. Whats the downside to the M60, AN-94, M16A2, and the worst offender: Carl Gustauv? There is no downside. That is essentially the definition of imbalance. Theres no reason to use any of the guns you have earlier in the game.
you look at the ACR and see a high mag size and a high ROF, but the damage is shit. there are reasons to us better weapons like the TAR for more damage and a lower accuracy. The same cant be said for BC2 balance.
They added a bunch of stupid shit with the weed emblems and stuff to MW2, but none of that changes anything about how the game is played. I'm not arguing that one game is better then the other, because its a retarded argument based on how different they are. But calling MW2 imbalanced and BC2 balanced again, is a fucking joke.-
M60 has shit accuracy... after the patch. AN-94 is not good at close range. Gustav was fixed in the same patch as the M60. M16m again, not good at close range. So, if you had played much post patch, you would realize this. There's absolutely a downside.
I bring up the ACR because it was an unrealistic railgun. Aug? Same thing. No recoil, and unrealistic accuracy. IMO, it was the best gun in the game, but you couldn't strap a grenade launcher, so it wasn't as good as the ACR for doing everything. Then you have shotguns with 100yd range, and they destroyed in Hardcore. You could use either of those guns and absolutely dominate any map in the game.
I'm not talking about emblems. I'm talking about the retarded perks and killstreaks. They designed it to encourage camping, which everyone did in every game mode. When you have 16 people squatting in corners with silenced guns waiting for someone to get bored and start moving.... there's a problem.-

I'm just going to toss in my opinion about BC2 balance since I have probably played this game more than anybody else on the Shack (1000+ hours look at my bc2stats page if you don't believe me). The only issue with balance is the fact that you get shit on at the lower levels because you don't have any scopes yet and you don't have magnum ammo which is the biggest factor. Also, you guys have outdated perspectives on what the best guns are. AN-94, M60, Gustav were all fixed a long, long time ago. Almost a year ago. Best assault rifle in my opinion is the XM8 prototype as it has the best combination of power, range and close quarter ability. That's the first AR you unlock in the game. Best MG really depends, sure some people like the M60, but it is not even close to being the end all be all. Just as many people, if not more, use the MG36, the XM8 LMG, Type 88 LMG or MG3. M24 is pretty much the best sniper rifle like Saunders said. It is better than the Gol because the sights have notches which make it easier to account for bullet drop on long distance shots.
I can't say anything about MW2 because I played like 17 minutes of it, but just wanted to state for the record that BC2 has great class and weapon balance. Just the magnum ammo thing is really dumb.

Lol theres no reason at all to use the M24 if you've unlocked the GOL.
The recon class has some more variety because its a pretty dynamic class, the others really arent. Having the semi and full auto rifles are actually useful and helps the class be more versatile.
saunders even says above what the best LMG and AR in the game are, theres really no other reason to use another one once youve unlocked it. there is no "play differently" with those classes weapons (note: this does not mean gadgets), you use the one that kills the best.
I know all of this is pointless for me to say based on your last line. I already know youre a huge BF fanboy from past posts, and you cant help yourself from comparing the two games head on (which is not what I am doing at all).-

I love how you leave out the fact that I pointed out their weaknesses too. It's not like MW2 where one gun owns the game. The guns I pointed out have strengths and weaknesses. I just pointed out my personal opinion for guns that have a good balance. Newsflash, every game ever made is going to have that. It's much different from MW2 where one or two guns dominate every other weapon in the game. But you're completely ignoring that just to try to prove your (incorrect) point.
-
You are completely ignoring everything I'm saying as well. You keep saying "one gun owns MW2" and thats simply not the truth.
you keep saying that my logic is bad, but yours is just as bad.
Based on my time with BC2, which is quite a bit, I dont think the weapons are balanced or even offer variety for every kit except recon. There is a clear "best" gun for each kit and its benefits heavily outweigh its weaknesses.

I played the first MW but I just couldn't enjoy it. It had great graphics and some very impressive set pieces etc... there is just something about the gunplay in these games which bores the crap out of me. I would almost prefer playing through the games as a non-combatant news reporter or something. That way I could see all the cool stuff going on.. but avoid all the actual combat which really isn't that good. It seems in most CoD games I either get killed instantly from random shit I didn't even see, or I'm behind cover shooting things that pop up like a shooting gallery. Literally it is like shooting galleries from old school arcades in the 80's before actual video games took over. You would have the ducks running across on conveyor belts and shit... that's what it feels like. And it's not that fun for me.

I'm really on the fence about Modern Warfare games... I'm not going to jump on the hate train and say they flat out suck. But even the first one (which most people agree is excellent)... I didn't enjoy it. I can't say it's a bad game because it was very well made and had cool stuff going on. I just did not have fun playing. As a video... this trailer is pretty damn cool and it does a good job of making me want to play that game. But historically... I don't really enjoy CoD games since the first two on the PC years ago. Ironically, the most fun I've had with CoD since the first two games were: Spec Ops mission in the first MW with a buddy.. and World at War... just because it was fun as hell to play in co-op (and from what I've heard.. that's the one that almost everybody hated). So... I'm all ass backwards with MW I guess. At least to me... MW3 is a zit on the ass of Duke Nukem Forever which I honestly can't wait for!

I'm with you... plan to purchase this AND BF3. I'm a FPS war junkie and have owned every iteration of COD and Battlefield.
As much as people want to knock the COD series, its popularity cannot be argued. I was a little hesitant about Black Ops before its release but ultimately had a blast playing with friends and shackers in MP.
Sorry haters... that's what matters to me most. As long as I get to blow something up with buddies, I don't care if it's Battlefield or COD.

I'm not too impressed with the building textures. They look like the graphics haven't really been upgraded? More in the lines of more damage to buildings. I hope that you can take down a building with rocket launchers, etc... yourself. Still waiting for a game where you can annihilate the town to rumble. :-)
