Nintendo downloads: MDK2, Mighty Milky Way
Nintendo downloads this week feature MDK2, Mighty Milky Way, Go Series Tower of Deus, and Whack-a-Friend.
PC classic and early BioWare relic MDK2 hits the Nintendo downloads today, as a WiiWare release. The third-person shooter uses clever writing and inventive weaponry to guide you through the game. If you haven't played it before, now is your chance to do it relatively cheaply at $10 (1,000 points).
DSiWare brings Mighty Milky Way, a quirky puzzle game starring an little alien named Luna and her arch-nemesis, a socially awkward T-Rex. The game is made by WayForward, the studio behind retro-flavored titles like Contra 4 and A Boy and His Blob, so it may be worth looking into. It can be had for $8 (800 points).
The DSi also gets Go Series Tower of Deus, a race up a spooky tower modeled after 1980s platformers, and Whack-A-Friend, a target practice game using the DSi camera. Both cost a mere two bucks, but as the old mafia adage goes, it's a sad day when you have to whack a friend.

However, the screenshot makes it look like the textures are drastically downscaled, probably to get under the WiiWare size limitation (the one that led to Super Meat Boy WiiWare getting canned: http://www.shacknews.com/article/66270/super-meat-boy-wiiware-release ...but is also the limit that doesn't exist, according to Nintendo spokespeople: http://www.shacknews.com/article/49925/nintendo-slightly-clarifies-wiiware-details ).
