F.E.A.R. 3 delayed until June

The spooky shooter has been delayed for the third, and hopefully final, time. Previously due May 22, it's now expected in June.

Spooky shooter F.E.A.R. 3 has been delayed for the third, and hopefully final time, Giant Bomb reports. It'll now launch for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on June 21.

When initially announced, F.E.A.R. 3 was scheduled to launch in fall 2010. It then slipped to March 22, 2011, then again to May 24.

Developed by Day 1 Studios rather than series creator Monolith, F.E.A.R. 3 is published by Warner Bros.

  I really want this to be good. FEAR2 was a bit of a disappointment. It's not that it was bad or anything, but it was a clear step down from the first game, the mech stages were terrible, and there was some seriously iffy stuff done with the character design. I think getting some fresh blood working on the series was a totally awesome good call.

    The demo for 2 unsold me. And I use Fear to break in new systems, like I used to use Max Payne 2.

        There was a big difference in how engagements with the enemy were staged in 2, in the first one, you almost always fired the first shot, in 2 they almost always had the drop on you, it changed the dynamic of the combat pretty extensively.

    I want it right now. Fear 2 was not without flaws, bu it was a decent entry in the series-- and what I've read of 3 makes it sound like they're returning to a few of the things that made Fear 1 so good.

        I loved the school segment, that creepy scary shit is what I loved so much about FEAR1, I wish 2 had more of it.

        I think that it's the first game that genuinely scared me, with great tension and awesome level design.
        By contrast Dead Space felt contrived in how it delivered the scares.

        I agree. Not as good on the whole as the first game was, but it was certainly a competent shooter, with arguably good story.

    I really liked fear 1 and 2. But the gameplay and teaser trailers for the 3rd did nothing for me really.
    
    I might watch it but I had completely forgotten about this game.

    Fear 2 killed it for me. If enough shackers still recommend it during a steam sale, I'd probably pick it up.

    FEAR 2 really killed my enthusiasm for this franchise; it went full-on consolified. I remember complaining before about FEAR 1 having too many office and warehouse environments, but it looks like bliss compared to FEAR 2 drowning in stupid gameplay tunnel setpieces and quick time events.

        Had about a dozen total. Each Alma encounter and one boss battle ended with one, IIRC.

    They know if they released in May they would be crushed by Brink, Witcher 2, and LA Noire. No way their shitty game could compete with those giants.

  FEAR 1 was great but I really disliked FEAR 2 and it also looked quite tacky. I won't even bother to look at FEAR 3 unless I hear its name shouted from up above.
