[Original Story] The weekly Shacknews "what are you playing" post has been invaded by Locust and Thrashball enthusiasts this week. Shacknews has ten (10) early access Gears of War 3 beta codes available today and we want to get them out to our loyal readers.
Entering is simple. Reply to this WRUP post by telling us what you plan to do for the rest of the weekend. Why? Because your intricate, detailed plans might be dashed if a Gears of War 3 beta code drops in your ShackMessage box. You must qualify for the giveaway (see rules below).
Oh, and another thing... we're only running this giveaway for five hours to get codes to winners ASAP. (Ends today at 1pm PT).

- Garnett Lee: I have a mountain of stories to get ready for next week but I’ll also be trying to wrap up SOCOM 4, getting in a little time with the Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta, and kicking sci-fi mercenary ass in Hunters: Episode One HD.
- Alice O'Connor: I really must remember to play don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story, but then there's also Magicka: Vietnam, Sanctum, and Anomaly: Warzone Earth, and let's not forget the possibility of Portal 2 launching early.
- Xav de Matos: I would like to play the Gears of War 3 beta, Splinter Cell 3DS, and Portal 2... but I'm packing and all of my systems (and PC) are in boxes.
- Jeff Mattas: Other than doing my part to help Portal 2 release early by playing Steam indies this weekend, I’m very much looking forward to some more Crysis 2 and Motorstorm: Apocalypse.
- Steve Watts: I've taken advantage of some of the XBLA sales, so I'll be playing Bionic Commando and Magic, and plugging away on Ghost Recon for the 3DS. I'm also seriously considering popping Portal back in for another quick go-round, in preparation for Portal the Second.
- Ozzie Mejia: Taking it easy this weekend by playing the Stevie Nicks songs that hit Rock Band 3, before Portal 2 consumes my entire being for the foreseeable future.

This weekend will be pretty boring doing yard work with the occasional gears 2 or halo, leading into a long hard week of work, but portal 2 and hopefully the beta will comfort me in a time of need.

Hopefully I can get through my final playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins GotY Ed and then start on DA2. Toss in some old school Zelda (A Link to the Past) to shake things up as well!

Other than Gears of War 3, I'll be playing a couple of things, depends on what my friends are playing.
Call of Duty Black Ops, Gears of War 1/2, even some Halo. Can't forget about Marvel vs Capcom 3.. and that's about it. -

Is that the shitty Xbox Live Indie one? Really terrible that's it's easy add subtract blocks. No crafting or even mining needed. Sure it's early stage, but at least let us use the fucking mining pick you put in our hands.
If it's a different game...ignore all that.

I am going to be sitting here in anticipation this whole weekend with bowls of icecream ready and Halo Reach on standby if I do not win a code. I am sure many other people could be doing the same so I set up a soft plush blanket zone to escape from reality realizing that maybe I will never earn the chance to try a very polished Gears of War 3 beta. Please make my weekend come true! I want this icecream to melt! and I want nothing to do with Halo reach!!!!!!

Then I'll play a little NHL11 while I watch the Red Wings take a 2-0 lead. Finally I think I'm going to dude bro it up and play some gears 2and bulletstorm to prepare for gears3!!!! -
i plan on practicing for this mortal kombat 9 tournament to get a free copy on monday, and playing the HELL out of gears of war 2

Going to see my grandma and working on her garage door, then going to my cousins to spend the night and play a little gears 2. From there im going to a little tourney for poker that me and my cousin signed up for. And that about sums up my week end.

Just finished up an exam, the sun is shinning and another Canadian winter has been defeated. Going to get a few things done then hop on Gears of War 2. I'm so pumped up about getting back to Gears, used to be like a religion to me. Spent much of last night watching a stream and trying to get a code. No dice so far though! Definitely going to finish playing the campaign of Dead Space 2 (finally) while also playing some multiplayer on the side, and then I'm going to finish it all up with some StarCraft 2 multiplayer ladder. Unless Gears 3 is involved lol.

I plan on playing some Fallout New Vegas and try to find some special weapons and go see whats in those caves that I never go in. Play a little Need For Speed Hot Pursuit to keep the adrenaline pumping and finish off with some Killing Floor (got to survive the out break).

I will be playing bullet storm then hop over to Call of Duty: Black ops and play hardcore search and destroy with my unstoppable team. We crush whoever stands. Then I will finish my weekend with a walk to the mountains to go snowboarding with my family. My weekends are full of fun and excitement for whoever is with me. My competitiveness puts me on top of all others.

Over this weekend I will be tormenting my less skilled friends on my ingenious Halo reach forge traps.Then as soon as they rage quit ill talk them into some grifball.Then at some point we'll all play black ops or battlefield 2 and own it up against other teams in rush or team tactical. Then we will all split to go have some anger management in GTA 4, nothing to violent of course. After a block of time we will all go to play Gears 1 and 2. If it is gears 2 I am prepared to be a newb with my favorite gun: the flamethrower! Now at this time we will all be very tired and probably go to kill massive amount of undead nazis (or russians,or even americans i guess if its five) in cod black ops zombies, which is one of the best parts of cod. After we die we'll be dead asleep while watching netflix over a party on xbox live. And yeah thats about it, oh except ill be dreaming about the Gears 3 beta while I sleep. RETRO LANCER HERE I COME!

I finally just got the Alan Wake DLC so I plan on spending some time on that. Then ill play some Marvel vs Capcom 3 against my friends for a while, take a break by grab some fast food.Then finish up my day with a little metro 2033, I've been a little lazy on trying to finish that game and then on Sunday, ill try to finish up all the achievements for Bulletstorm.

I will be playing gears 1 campaign on the pc, and gears 2 on the xbox, followed by EPICMEALTIME and other youtube videos, and back to gears 1 multiplayer because it looks to be similar to gears 3 pacing on multiplayer. But I dont mind having all of my plans thwarted with a beta key! :)

I will actually be trying to complete the SC2 campaign, play WoW, TF2, my GT5 remote racers are going full tilt, and probably continue to suck at league of legends. then I will need to deploy the brass beast and mow people down to offset that suckage.
in non-gaming, I will be DBANing old machines that I used for active directory testing and getting them ready to recycle. server 2008 isn't exactly new and fancy anymore and I don't need a bunch of old gaming rigs to test with. they are all single core anyway, so OFF THEY GO. haha. -
Well this weekend I've got a few things planned. Later today I'm going to go workout and then play some basketball until night. Then I'm having a few friends over for a bonfire and just to hang out. Sunday morning I've got to get up bright and early since I'm volunteering at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's environmental science program from around 8:30am to 1:00pm. After that I'll have a little bit of free time before I have a family gathering that I'm supposed to go to for the rest of the day. During any free time this weekend I plan on trying to get to a 100 in Gears 2 because of the 18x XP since I got randomly reset a few months ago. Of course, all of these plans would be kinda messed up if I got a Gears 3 beta code.

I'm going to be writing up documentation for end users regarding an email migration and the changes to their antispam system because my boss expects me to work for free on a major project on the weekend after he spent an hour and a half berating me and my team for working on the project during the week.

Week 9 of Bayonetta. 40 hours played in Normal, 11 in Very Easy. I started a new save to appreciate how difficult the first run through is without the various purchased techniques and accessories.
I'll probably continue on Catherine, and continue through Doom 3 from Delta 3 onward. -
